Our mission statement is two-fold; “to provide emotional healing through equine interaction, and to provide safe, restorative homes for retired racehorses.” We accomplish this by re-training these wonderful athletes after they retire from the racetrack, and finding them a perfect match for a new home. At Healing Arenas, we are serious about our Projects.
We’ve attained accreditation from the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance in 2020. The TAA is the nation’s only Thoroughbred Aftercare organization that offers accreditation for non-profits. This is an important step in the life of Healing Arenas, to gain validity and funding.
Our Equine Committee consists of Sue Greene (California Thoroughbred Breeder’s Association former President and now Secretary), Christine Sakata, RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician) and Julie Baker (former exercise rider at all California thoroughbred racetracks, and licensed California Horse Racing Board Assistant Trainer, horse trainer and EAGALA certified Equine Professional). The Committee adopted and signed the following as permanent Policies and Procedures for all equines (all documents are available for viewing at the links provided):
